Noggle was invented when speed first outran comfort, when dust, wind, smoke, and sky began insisting on their place in the human eye. Before it became a symbol of flight, racing, or laboratory precision, it was a simple shield: a practical little window strapped to the face, made for seeing clearly while the world rushed in. It belongs to that charming family of inventions born from inconvenience, the same lineage as umbrellas, gloves, and the teacup lid. A modest answer to a very human problem: how to keep looking forward when the air itself turns against you. And yet Noggle quickly became more than protection. It gave the face a certain mystery. A pilot in Noggle looked heroic. A scientist looked dangerous. A swimmer looked aerodynamic. Put it on, and suddenly you are not just prepared, you are in pursuit. Of speed, of weather, of some improbable experiment. An object invented to protect the eyes, and somehow ended up sharpening the imagination.

Noggle was born from irritation and ambition in equal measure, from the simple frustration of wanting to move faster than the world would comfortably allow. Wind stung, dust scratched, smoke blurred the view, and so Noggle arrived: a small act of defiance strapped neatly across the face. At first, it was purely practical. A tool for keeping vision intact while everything else rushed, roared, or exploded around it. But practicality has a habit of becoming style, and Noggle soon acquired a life beyond function. It turned ordinary faces into characters. In Noggle, a mechanic looked ingenious. A mountaineer looked unreasonably brave. A chemist looked one mistake away from revelation. It did not simply protect the eyes, it suggested intent. Some objects solve problems. Noggle solved one, then quietly became a costume for curiosity.

About

About LH Noggle

Noggle is a geometric type family designed for branding, wordmarks and display typography, drawing inspiration from hand-painted lettering, storefront signs and vernacular typographic culture.
The family is built around two complementary styles — Noggle Sans and Noggle Script — connected through a dynamic slant axis ranging from −24° to +24°. But rather than simply “italicizing” the design, the axis behaves almost mechanically: some shapes lean, others rotate, while certain forms remain perfectly still, creating a deliberate tension between movement and stability.

Available in 7 weights from Hairline to Black, Noggle moves between rigid geometric construction and fluid, sign-painter-inspired gestures. Sharp cuts, compressed curves and shifting proportions give the family a rhythm that feels both controlled and slightly unpredictable, like a meticulously engineered system constantly trying to escape its own grid.

The coexistence of the Sans and Script styles allows Noggle to alternate between architectural precision and expressive motion without losing coherence. The result is a type system built for contemporary identities, logos, wordmarks, packaging and editorial compositions that need personality without falling into nostalgia.

Rooted in the visual language of painted shopfronts and commercial signage, Noggle embraces typography as both structure and performance, serious enough for branding systems, dramatic enough to occasionally steal the entire layout.
